The CX Composite represents a modern twist on a perennial favorite, the Browning Citori. The Citori CX Composite is a direct descendant of the Superposed, retaining the strong foundation and benefiting from changes that ease manufacturing and enhance styling to meet the evolving needs and tastes of users. It effectively blends the rugged dependability of this superior shotgun with the toughness and versatility of composite. If you're asking why composite, the answer is simple, in addition to being tough and weather-resistant, composite also allows for the shape of the stocks to be manipulated beyond the capabilities of wood, allowing the dimensions of the grip areas can be made thinner to better fit shooters of all sizes. The addition of rubber overmolds also improves grip. All of these improvements have been accomplished without affecting the balance and swing that have helped make the Citori to sought after shotgun that it is.

To satisfy the target side of the Composite CX build, it features a versatile 60/40 POI, a tapered, floating top rib and ventilated side rib, a three position adjustable trigger that allows you to find your perfect finger-on-trigger position. An adjustable comb is also integrated into the stock to help lock in proper bead alignment.

For 50 years the Browning Citori has been revered by hunters and target shooters alike; ranking among the toughest, most reliable, best handling, and most beautiful over and under shotguns available. None of these accolades come as a surprise, however, as the foundation of the Citori is the Superposed, designed by none other than John M. Browning – a man widely regarded as the greatest gun designer in history.  

Although not the first over and under shotgun, the Superposed was the first commercially successful model. John M. Browning himself was a shotgun enthusiast, and imagined the Superposed with the notion that a single sighting plane and single, selective trigger would prove superior to other twin barrel shotguns of the era. In addition, it was designed to be more reliable and attainable than other over/under models. Unfortunately, Mr. Browning would not live to see the Superposed to fruition, passing away in 1926 before he could complete work on his vision.
