Successful completion of the CFSC entitles you to apply for a Non-Restricted Possession and Acquisition License (PAL), which is necessary for the purchase of any non-restricted firearm and ammunition in Canada.

Looking to get both your non-restricted and restricted license? Register for both the CFSC and the CRFSC on the same weekend for $300 and save $50 – the CRFSC is held the day after the CFSC (Sundays).

The CFSC is a one day course and it is a pre-requisite for the Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course (CRFSC). The CFSC is held at the Carstairs Community Hall on select Saturdays, once a month, from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm. We recommend students bring a lunch as only water is provided during the course. There are no means to warm your lunch up, so please bring something that does not require reheating.
The class concludes with a written exam administered by the instructors; a minimum score of 80% is needed to pass. Those who successfully pass the written exam will then be required to pass a practical exam. Upon successful completion of both tests, the student will be given the documents necessary for the PAL application process.

Cancellation Policy:
- If you are unable to make your class date, please give as much advance notice as possible, as there may be people on a wait list for your spot. You may be rebooked once for a future class.
- If you ask for a second date change or fail to show up for the course, an administrative fee may be charged.
